When I was a kid, way back in the early 90’s, I was given a Chinese box turtle for my birthday. Given my youthful creative nature I lovingly named him/her (how can you tell) “Boxer.” Boxer died from some bacterial infection he secretly had when my parents bought him (at least that’s what my dad told me). Then Boxer II came along to replace the fallen family reptile and he managed to last a few years. Turtles are supposed to live for decades, so I like to think there are two angry ghost turtles slowly haunting my childhood home…. looking to extract revenge on irresponsible youths. I probably shouldn’t have been allowed to have a turtle….

Flash forward 24 years to the future! One of the current projects on the board is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters 2. As an interior artist I was also given the opportunity to provide a cover for the project. Here is the process in creating that cover.

TMNT/Ghostbusters 2 is written  Erik Burnham and Tom Waltz. With Dan Schoening taking lead on art, interiors are also being handled by Pablo Tunica, Mark Torres, (fellow Kubert alum) C.P. Wilson III, and myself. If you’re a fan of either of these franchises or just love fun, well executed comic projects, then this mini series is for you. It drops the first week of November with a brand new issue every week.

Oh yeah, conventions! I’ll be attending a small press expo at Bosco’s Comics in downtown Anchorage (2301 Spenard Road) this Saturday from noon to 6. If you happen to be in the largest metropolis Alaska has to offer this weekend drop on by and say hello. I’ll have books, prints, and will be doing sketches and commissions. I just ordered a new banner and am praying to the gods that I’ll be able to show it off! The following weekend I’ll be in Portland Oregon for Rose City Comic Con. Then the last weekend in September I’m a guest artist at Senshi Con, back here in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska. More info to be posted soon!

“Raise the banner!”

Gnar the paranormal pig!
